Comments:
Organ was built by Conacher of Huddersfield in 1880 and comprised three
manuals and 25 speaking stops. It was originally tracker action but this
was replaced in 1908 when Conacher fitted tubular pneumatic action and
added six stops.
Wells Kennedy rebuilt the instrument and carried out a tonal revision in
1981 and at the time rationalised the internal layout of the instrument
and modified the case to improve the aperture, thus benefitting the egress
of sound. A new drawstop console was fitted, action was completely
overhauled and electrified. Solid state switching was installed for
coupler and pedal departments while the manual divisions continue to reside
on slider soundboards apart from the Swell Contra Fagotto 16.
