When a church closes or a building is altered, an organ can be lost within a matter of days. Instruments are removed carefully, recorded, and stored until an appropriate new home is found.
Rehousing is rarely a simple transplant. Casework, layout, wind supply and acoustic all have to be reconsidered for the receiving building.
