A rebuilt gallery organ lit in blue and gold beneath the chancel arch

Services

Rebuilding & Improvement

Major rebuilds, tonal alterations, mechanical improvements and modernisation where appropriate.

Not every instrument is a candidate for strict restoration. Where an organ has been compromised, or where its tonal scheme no longer serves the building, a rebuild can produce a musically coherent instrument while retaining the best of what exists.

Rebuilding is approached conservatively: alterations are made because they are musically or mechanically justified, not because they are fashionable.

Typically includes

  • New soundboards, chests and actions
  • Console rebuilding and control systems
  • Tonal additions, rescaling and revoicing
  • Enlargement within existing casework
